Revenge Caused Tragedy

Aroma, the daughter of Floris the Greek goddess of flowers, plants, forests and pleasant scents began to explain the myth of how some parts of global warming came to be. Floris is a slightly darker goddess, with beautiful tan skin from being in the bright sun gardening her plants, flowers and tress, she has full bright lips, glowly brown eyes and a widened nose. Floris has chocolate, wavy brown hair that stops right before her waistline. The symbols associated with her are the peony flower, ever green trees, pine cones and the colour aqua. She explained " This all happened when Aphrodite was born. The seas were calm, healthy and flowed in such a perfect way. Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty was born from the sea Paphos off the island of Cyprus. She arose from foam out the sea after Uranus' genitals were thrown into the water by Cronus. This story is always told, but what no one tells is that Aphrodite threw off the wave pattern of the sea, causing rising sea levels and things near the sea to drown and be submerged. Sadly, a lot of land, plants and flowers were drowned and died in the water. This made the goddess Floris furious, and she blamed Aphrodite for what happened to her precious plants and flowers as revenge she decided to destroy and bleach the coral reefs of the ocean. Floris knows that the seas belong to the god Poisedon but out of jealously and anger she blames Aphrodite in hopes that he would punish her. When Hephaestus, Aphrodite's husband heard that Floris blamed his wife for drowning her plants and tried to sabotage her by bleaching the coral for he became angry with her and decided to pay her forests a visit. He visited three locations and struck fires in each location. Each forest that was once a beautiful dark green and smelled like pine are now charred and smell burned which is against what Floris stands for. This caused a long feud between the three of these gods for years and they did not wants to make amends with each other, they strongly disliked each other. Without these amends the burned forests, the rising sea levels and bleached coral reefs in the ocean remained destroyed and was not revived. It just got worse and worse and remained destroyed for generations to come.

The main idea of this myth and analysis is to shed light on global warming, specifically regarding the rising seal levels, the unforunate forest fires and the bleaching of the coral reefs in the ocean. Firstly rising sea levels around the world are on the rise and might cause danger sooner than later. Secondly, the three forest fires in the myth relate to 3 most recent forest fires that I recall which were the forest fire in Australia last year, the forest fire that occured in California and the Amazon forest fires. Thirdly, due to the warmer tempeatures because of the effects of global warming, coral reefs in the sea are belaching which causes underwater issues. Different gods and goddesses are portrayed in the myth that was created. To start off, Aphrodite was added to this myth, I added Aphrodite because she wa beautiful just like Floris was. She represented beauty, plants and flowers are also associated with prettiness. I decided to make Floris slightly jealous of Aphrodite because she is deemed one of the most beautiful goddesses, Floris being jealous of Aphrodite brings forth motive to sabotage her. One of the stories behind Aphrodite's birth was when she came out of the foam in the sea, this was stated in Hesiod's Theogony. When the Titan Cronus slew Uranus he threw his genitals into the sea, and out came a white foam with a gorgeous lady (Hes. Theo. 176). I chose the story of Aphrodite to cause the global issue of rising sea levels because I felt like it was different than to tell a story about Posideon who is the god of seas. The foam that came from the sea was interpreted as so powerful that it collided with the waves of the seas causing the levels to rise nonstop. As sea levels rise, things begin to become submerged, drown disappear and more. For example, when high tides end up on the beach side, when the wave pulls itself back, it takes the things in sight with it, just like the sea levels in the myth have takrn Floris' flowers and pkants nearest to the seas and drowned them all. Next, Poisedon was included into the myth to add some expression. When reading or hearing about Greek myths there is some kind of war, anger, someone being set up, an element of surprise and for my myth that was Posideon. Poisodeon is the god of the seas, when referring to the water he is mentioned somehwhere. After Posideon found out what happened to the precious things in his beloved seas he was hurt by it, of course he wanted to react but he did not, Aphrodite is a powerful goddess and her husband Hephaestus is a powerful god, if he reacted to the rumor he heard from Floris he was in for a wrath. One thing that was noticed about Greek myths is that they will always react to something, whether they feel threatned, they are scared, they have been attacked and other things. Floris reacted because she was jealous and angry at Aphrodite, Hephaestus reacted to Floris after she blamed and sabotaged his wife.Posideon not reacting takes a different turn from the typical revenge Greek myths.
