Myth-Making: Rough Draft
There were two cousins who were related from their mothers being sisters. Both these kids grew up together and were like brothers. Their names were Perseus and Theseus and they were both the same age. Both of them didn’t know who their fathers were. When they would ask their mom about who was their dad and what happened to them, they always got the same response which was that they their dads left them before they were born. Perseus was very interested about weather and liked expanding his knowledge about it, especially about lightning and thunder. Theseus loved water and always wanted to be in it. He always wanted to swim and preferred swimming in oceans or seas rather than pools. The cousins went to the same school and were in the seventh grade. They had a classmate named Mike who would always bully them over many things. One day Perseus and Theseus were both in bad moods. It was a beautiful sunny day and all the kids were running around and playing games during recess Perseus and Theseus were just sitting on a bench minding their own business, talking to each other. Mike approached them and asked them why they aren’t playing basketball like they usually do. Theseus angrily told him that they didn’t feel like playing and were in a bad mood. That’s when everything took a turn for the worse as Mike replied, “Are you guys mad because both of your dads left you because they knew you were going to be losers?” Perseus’ and Theseus’ eyes opened up wide not believing what they just heard. They got angry like they never had before and stood up to yell at Mike. During this moment of pure anger clouds suddenly set in and it began to rain. There was also a very loud thunder. This sudden change in weather was very unusual. When Perseus and Theseus got picked up from school they explained what happened to their moms who had worried faces when hearing the story. The radio was on in the car and they heard the news anchor talk about how unusual the quick change of weather was and that during this the water levels had risen higher than it ever had. When they got home their moms told Perseus and Theseus who their fathers actually were. Perseus’ was Zeus and Theseus’ was Poseidon. After learning about this they realized whenever they would get angry the weather would always become very bad. Depending on how angry they got the weather would be that bad accordingly.
In my myth I decided to implement climate change. The story is about the demigod children of Zeus and Poseidon. They both had children with mortal women which ended up being demigods. Zeus’ was Perseus and Poseidon’s was Theseus. We see the abilities of their dads in the story when they get angry. We see the weather get bad which would be connected with Zeus as he is the god of thunder and the sky. We also saw the water level rise which would be connected with Poseidon as he is the god of sea.
