Final Myth-by: Aranie Suthakaran
Apollo is a young man who was travelling around the world, looking for the most magnificent sounds to create music. As he was walking towards the mysterious forest, he heard a beautiful sound through the peaceful atmosphere. As Apollo approaches the sound, he comes upon a beautiful sight. In front of his eyesight, lies. He was also memorized by both her voice and beauty. Since he is curious about this beauty, Apollo asked about her background, she identifies herself as the daughter of Priam, the final king of Troy, and his wife Hecuba. At that moment, Apollo then proposes to marry him and asks her to become his queen. Cassandra, in shock, was hesitant about the sudden proposal since they just met in minutes and she doesn't know anything about Apollo’s history. Moreover, Cassandra decided to reject his proposal as she told him that she is not interested in a relationship with him. Apollo, known for the weakness of not winning hearts in the people he loves, was disappointed and angry at the rejection. Apollo makes furious curses to Cassandra that she will eventually face an unbearing effect that will change her life and future. This effect will cause her to curse the world in her own words, creating the world to cause global warming. Hearing these words from him, Cassandra did not believe the curses that Apollo gave. Cassandra decides to walk away from him. Apollo in envy, smirks while watching her leave the scene and return to the palace. Eventually, Cassandra finds a suitable groom who is a prince who promises her that he loves her. Unfortunately, the prince in the end betrays her and leaves her after taking her kingdom away from her. Cassandra, in anger, cursed the kingdom that the prince stole to burst into flame. However, what she didn't know was that her curse caused the whole world to heat up. This, in turn, causes the temperature to increase and result in creating global warming. Her anger is still the reason why global warming is continuing.
Final Myth Analysis
The main point of this myth was to emphasize the importance of global warming. In-depth, the change in heat causes the concept of global warming. The anger Cassandra had an impact on fake promises by causing the existence of global warming to continue(Falk, ). In the concept of global warming, it is shown that how the curse was given by Apollo to Cassandra. Based on my myth, no one would ever believe her words, despite everything that will happen. There is much evidence that proves the statement that global warming is a real issue, no one does not believe what the evidence says despite what is happening(Falk,richardfalk.org,n.d). In-depth, in modern times, scientific evidence has the same concept as the prophecy that is made by Cassandra. Society is built up with the most trust in science. There are very significant in stating the truth with strong scientific evidence(Falk,richardfalk.org,n.d). As a result, there is scientific evidence that global warming is true and existing. For instance, the result that Cassandra got from stating the truth, no one does not believe that it is true. The similarities between the myth that I made and the real myth are about Apollo and Cassandra. Cassandra was one of the princesses of Troy and is also the daughter of Priam and Hecuba. For instance, the similarity is when Apollo saw Cassandra, he fell in love with her beauty(Homer, Odyssey, 4385-464). Moreover, the similarity is from the Iliad where it describes how Cassandra is as beautiful as Aphrodite(Homer, Iliad 677-717). There are many changes between the real myth and the myth. For example, in the real myth, Apollo has sexual intentions with her. Meanwhile, in the myth that I made, he just wanted to marry her and make her his queen. I made this change with the myth because I did not feel in creating Apollo seem like a person who is shown as having lovers for sexual desires. I decided to make Apollo a common man who wanted to marry Cassandra and make him his queen. The second difference which I changed for the myth is that in the ancient myth, she denied the proposal at first, but decided to accept it in one condition, that Apollo should give her the privilege of the gift of prophecy. Meanwhile, in the myth that I made, she denied it without any second thoughts. This decision was made because I did not want to bring up the consequence of the gift of prophecy as I did not want to copy the exact concept. The third change that was made for this myth was when Cassandra was forced by the Greek king which was described in the ancient myth. I made that change because I do not think that I will need to add another character into my myth. I only made the prince anonymous to create mystery. In both the ancient myth and the myth I created, Apollo was shown to be the god of music. This can be found in Homeric Hymns where it describes how he is the son of Zeus, and he gave the fortune of creating music with is also a glorious gift (Homeric Hymns, 397–580). The Theogony of Hesiod does not discuss the myth about Apollo and Cassandra. Rather, it only discussed abut Apollo’s skills as an admirer of music (Theogony of Hesiod). In the Odyssey, Apollo accepted the decision because he thought that once he granted her the condition, he would be able to have sexual advances with her. Afterward, she took the gift and denied giving it to him. Apollo couldn’t accept this rejection and curses that no one would ever believe what she will say despite everything that will happen. According to the Odyssey, it discusses Cassandra had attempted to get a shelter in Athena’s Temple. She was found by Ajax the lesser who then raped her in Athena’s temple. As described in the Agamemnon, she was found by Agamemnon and took her to his place. She warns the king that he will be killed when he comes back to Mycenae but the king did not take it seriously(Agamemnon,1240). He was not aware that his wife Clytemnestra had an affair during his journey. Both his wife and her lover decided to murder him when he returns to his kingdom(Agamemnon-1240). They succeeded in killing Agamemnon when he was in the bathroom, taking a bath. But at the same time, Cassandra was killed at the hands of Clytemnestra(Homer, Odyssey 4385-464). These components were not included in the myth created because I felt that it was not necessary to discuss since it was the aftermath of the gift of prophecy and the created myth doesn’t talk about it. Meanwhile, in the myth that I made, Apollo is shown as a young man that was finding the most magnificent sounds to create music since he is the god of music. He comes across a beautiful sound through the lonely forest. So when Apollo decided to investigate the sound, he saw a beautiful woman singing. Apollo was surprised upon the beauty of the woman as he had never seen anyone as beautiful as her. Apollo asks for her name and she responds that her name is Cassandra. When Apollo proposed to her, Cassandra was hesitating about the proposal that Apollo said. This was because they both just met and she did not know anything about Apollo nor his life. She decided to reject his proposal and told him that she is not interested in a relationship with him. Apollo was angry about the rejection, couldn’t control his frustration and cursed Cassandra that she will eventually face an un bear effect that will change her life and future. In-depth, the curse Apollo made will start the beginning of the world to heat up causing the concept of global warming. This effect will be the result of her through her own words. Cassandra would not believe that curse and will not take it seriously so she decides to walk away from him while Apollo watches in envy and begins to go back to his palace. Ultimately, Cassandra finds a groom who is a prince to help rule in her kingdom. But faith has a different decision and the prince decides to break the promise and eventually leaves her after taking her kingdom from her. Since Cassandra is very angry, she decided to curse the very kingdom that the prince decides to steal to be destroyed by burning it into flame. She didn't know at that time that the curse she made has caused the whole world to heat up, with the temperature of the earth increasing.
